~Please get to know us a little better~
Welcome to our website! Here's a little about me, and my background.
Since I was captivated with photography and art from a very young age, I decided to make that my major in college. After receiving my BA degree in Art (with Photography as my emphasis), from CSUF (in Fresno, CA), I covered my first wedding for a family member who trusted my ability more than I did (at that time). It was a bit of a test for me, but I guess you could say I passed "with flying colors". That was in 1987, the year that Paul and I were married, and I started my business "Picture This" in Bakersfield, CA, in 1988. Wedding and portrait photography has been my passion and profession ever since. I have continued, to this day, to further my photographic education and knowledge through seminars, workshops, and friendships with the leading photographers in the industry. In April 2006, I was awarded "Accolade of Photographic Mastery", through print competition from WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International). I was very honored, the following year to have a feature article written about me for Rangefinder Magazine, one of the world's leading photography magazines. Since then, our work has appeared in RF, along with several articles written about us or by us. Our images have also been featured in many books published world-wide. I look forward to every assignment, and always strive to exceed all expectations. And, yes, if you couldn't tell already, I love dogs!
Paul's style, in his words...
"I consider myself to be a photojournalist in the purest sense of the word. I don't create moments, I capture them. I love shooting with B&W film. My style revolves around observation and requires me to make quick decisions. I'm always looking for that special moment that will reflect the emotion of the day. I got serious about photography when one of my prints placed second in the WPPI 16x20 competition, in 2002. I decided to stop teaching (High School English) and concentrate on wedding photography full-time. As a result of this competition, I became friends with Joe Buissink (amazing speaker and celebrity photographer), and he continues to inspire me to create fresh new images."
Paul's work has been featured in many publications including The Wedding Issue of Rangefinder Magazine. He was awarded "Accolade of Photographic Mastery" along with "Accolade of Outstanding Photographic Achievement". He is currently expanding his wedding coverage to include cinematography, and he has acted and done stuntwork in a number of feature films.
The Wolvertons cover all weddings together as a team, with Paul acting as the second shooter and creating works of art for generations to come.
